Welcome...
Get your coffee brewing and your snacks within arm's reach. This is no ordinary about me page – it's a narrative that'll take you on a remarkable journey. Expect laughs, maybe a few tears, and a rollercoaster of emotions. I promise it'll be worth every moment. We're about to embark on a journey together, and by the end, you'll be as excited to work with me as I am to share this story with you.
I'm a 28 year old girl from the small town of Rocky Point, a place I consider paradise on earth. Now let me tell you the story of how you and I ended up here. However, the journey that brought me here is a tale of unexpected transformation. To begin with, I had never envisioned a career in the creative realm. Ever since I was little, I've always appreciated art, the simple beauty of the world – the intricate branches of trees, the rhythmic dance of waves, and the mesmerizing sunsets in my beautiful hometown, but artistry never seemed to be my path; in fact, I had always aspired to become a Doctor. I even embarked on a three-year medical journey in Ensenada, Baja California. But the universe had different plans for me. During my last year in medical school, I was faced with a challenging battle, one that took a toll on both my physical and mental health.
My body was sending me a message, one that couldn't be ignored – I was not meant to follow this path. It was a painful realization, but a necessary one. My parents came to my rescue, recognizing the severity of my condition when I could hardly lift myself from bed. They brought me back home to Rocky Point in 2018, and, in retrospect, it was the best thing that happened to me. Back in my beautiful town, I confronted the daunting task of rebuilding my health. Months later, I received a diagnosis of fibromyalgia added to the complexity of my journey, further compounded by my persistent battle with depression and chronic anxiety. Life took a sharp turn, and as a 23-year-old, I felt overwhelmed by the challenges that lay ahead. Little did I know, the chaos that surrounded me was a gift in disguise, one that would shape my future in the most profound way.
As I embarked on the path to recovery and rediscovery, it marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey – a journey that would lead me to a destiny I had never envisioned. I started trying to get back on being myself and get my life back, so seeking employment became the next chapter, and I didn't know it then but, it was the calm before the storm.
I've been working since I was 15, I begged my parents to let me have a job just to distract me (remember, I was trying to find ways to scape from my mind since forever), and each job that I had became a stepping stone in my evolution. Whether I was just the barista, the waitress, or the tour guide, I was always involved in the content creation process and management of their social media, I gravitated toward these roles instinctively. This wasn't a mere coincidence; it was a calling but I wasn't paying attention.
My background and passion for this craft led me to a remarkable opportunity with a Wine, Beer, and Spirits company based in California. From day one, it was clear that I had a unique talent for marketing. The work was not just a job; it was a source of daily inspiration and true passion. Within three short months, I had scaled the ranks, becoming both Marketing Manager and Social Media Supervisor. It's not arrogance but an affirmation that I'm a go-getter, a 'shark' in the field of marketing. (Yes, I'm a shark, and I thrive in turbulent waters – that's why you should hire me.)
As the pandemic swept across our lives, it introduced a set of daunting challenges in the Marketing department, it was a lean team consisting of only two graphic designers and myself. It was a defining moment, and I chose to rise to the occasion. Over the next year and a half, something truly remarkable unfolded. With more than a dozen active brands, I was handed the canvas to create from scratch brand strategies, social media and e-commerce campaigns, product photography, PR management – you name it, I crafted it. It was a period of pure creative exhilaration and learning.
Then came the defining moment. The company welcomed a Marketing Director, and, to my astonishment, it was none other than the former Global Director of Bacardi herself. The feeling of being on cloud nine doesn't even begin to describe my elation and how grateful and fortunate I felt. Soon after, I assumed the role of Brand Manager and became her trusted right hand. She was more than a mentor; she was a guiding light who generously shared her wisdom. Her unwavering belief in my talent and abilities propelled me to where I stand today. I owe everything I am and all that I've accomplished to the invaluable lessons she imparted, I wouldn't be the person that I am nor would I've fallen in love with the digital world the way I did if it were not for her.
And so, the journey of creative brand management and content creation began, an ever-evolving quest for growth, improvement, and innovation. This was my humble beginning – the spark that ignited my passion and set me on a path to inspire and create.
BUT ALEX, HOW ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHY?
Let's dive into a story that might just bring a tear to your eye. My profound love for photography was awakened by an extraordinary pair of twins, my older brothers. They're not just family; they're my adventure buddies and creative partners. They gifted me my very first camera, and that gesture ignited a lifelong passion. The beauty of this tale is that none of us were experts, and none of us knew exactly what we were doing. It was a hobby and devotion for this art form that we embarked on simultaneously. We learned together, grew together, and shared a relentless hunger for learning and creating more each time. Every day, we ventured out to capture the beauty of our hometown – be it the beach, the streets, or the vast desert, enjoying each others company.
I can't relate to the people that say that you're supposed to have friendly occasional fights with your siblings. Instead, my brothers have always been my best friends, and we've saved each other countless times. Our connection goes beyond being family; it's as if our souls are intrinsically linked despite the age difference (which I won't reveal, for their sake), it feels as if we've been siblings in past lives, destined to be together.
In my darkest moment, they pulled me into the light with their love, art, and a camera. This is the story of how photography became more than an art form to me – it became a lifeline, and I can truly say that saved my life.
